Neuromuscular is specialising in the understanding of how the muscular system & nervous systems relationship work together when dealing with pain management, freedom of movement, and self care.
"Trigger points are hyperirritable spots located in a taut band of skeletal muscle." They produce pain locally and in a referred pattern and often accompany chronic musculoskeletal disorders. Acute trauma or repetitive microtrauma may lead to the development of stress on muscle fibres and the formation of trigger points. Trigger points can manifest as tension headaches, tinnitus, temporomandibular joint pain (TMJ), decreased range of motion in the legs, and low back pain.

A massage immediately after exercise (a marathon) again is short, a little slower and helps with recovery to minimise the after effects of delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) - inflamed & damaged muscle cells. If you are in training, massage regularly is recommended however this needs to be scheduled into your training routine, preferably your rest day.
