Training in New Zealand has a regulatory board where ongoing education and specialisation is a certifiable medical based practice. Neuromuscular is specialising in the understanding of how the muscular system & nervous systems relationship work together when dealing with pain management, freedom of movement, and self care.
"Trigger points are hyperirritable spots located in a taut band of skeletal muscle." They produce pain locally and in a referred pattern and often accompany chronic musculoskeletal disorders. Acute trauma or repetitive microtrauma may lead to the development of stress on muscle fibres and the formation of trigger points. Trigger points can manifest as tension headaches, tinnitus, temporomandibular joint pain (TMJ), decreased range of motion in the legs, and low back pain.
Sports programs and care plans differ from relaxation techniques depending on your needs. We will assess your goals and current training routine to offer the best possible treatment you need, whether it's deep tissue, recovery relaxation, specific neuromuscular release work or active isolating stretching. Your training timetable will determine what days massage is best for your performance and recovery.
Yes. A pre sports massage is a short, fast paced massage designed to stimulate the muscles for increased blood & oxygen flow. A massage immediately after exercise (a marathon) again is short, a little slower and helps with recovery to minimise the after effects of delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) - inflamed & damaged muscle cells. If you are in training, massage regularly is recommended however this needs to be scheduled into your training routine, preferably your rest day.
Yes. Active isolated stretching techniques help with this and muscular care is known for this. We are releasing tension in muscles and giving the joints freedom to move.
Sure. We like to have a full initial consultation to get to know you, learn about your health history, and establish what your wants and needs are. We offer our continued and lifetime plans only to existing clients and members as a way to give value as we are currently not supported by ACC.

Of course. We just advise if under 14 and if it is their first consultation they are accompanied by an adult or parent. Many benefits are proven for adolescence well-being, mental health, and sports related practices.
The muscles and nervous system have memories, they remember trauma and this can take some time to recover. Neuromuscular care can reprogram and rewire your brain through the muscles and techniques we use. Drugs are not always the best long term solution as it's not getting to the core issue.
We are more than happy to offer workplace presentations and lifestyle care workshops now many companies are adopting the responsibility for the health of their employees and we offer incentive based care plans. Understanding that as an employee you have a responsibility also to inform yourself and take the appropriate actions to keep yourself healthy.
